Deputy Director -Officer of Research-Open Rank Faculty
The National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health seeks an experienced preparedness professional or established academician with a proven track record in both grant-funded academic research and applied research, as well as management experience. The successful candidate will function as the Deputy Director (Administration and External Relations), will assist the Director with long-term strategies for program development and vision for the Center, and will work with members of the Center's senior management team to ensure that the Center's goals and objectives are met. The Deputy Director will be responsible for maintaining Center relationships with government agencies and officials and must be able to travel and make presentations on behalf of the Center as a senior representative. Faculty rank commensurate with academic experience and strength of grant funding and publication record.
Qualified applicants must a possess a doctorate degree (MD, PhD, EdD, or professional equivalent), considerable experience competing for federal research grants, academic publishing at the level of an established researcher and scholar. Five years experience in the field of disaster medicine, emergency preparedness, bioterrorism education, public health preparedness or related field required. Proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills also required.
A minimum of 10 years professional experience is strongly preferred. Proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. Senior Investigator - Open Rank Faculty
The National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP) at the Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University is an academically-based resource center dedicated to the study, analysis and enhancement of the nation's ability to prepare for and respond to major disasters, including terrorism. The NCDP has a wide-ranging research, training and education, and advocacy agenda, with a special interest in megadisasters.
The National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health invites applications for a full-time Officer of Research who will function as a Senior Investigator on the Center's research team.
We seek candidates who have received a terminal doctoral degree in the social sciences, medicine, public health or public administration, (MD, PhD or DrPH or professional equivalent is required) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in disaster research, disaster policy analysis, or public health preparedness. Subject matter expertise in the disaster response capabilities of the federal government and in the City of New York is desirable. This position may be eligible for a professorial rank depending on academic experience and fit within the mission of the Mailman School of Public Health.
